Bridport Writer
![]() Narrative Threads is a collection of short stories, flash fiction and poetry written by Bridport Story Traders, a writing group of whom I am a very proud member. Published at the end of last year by Honeybee Books six teen different voices from Bridport contribute on the theme of Rope, central to the town's history and culture. Step back in time, and also visit the contemporary worlds of fishing, circus life, mountaineering and make-believe. From hair-raising and spine-chilling to gentle and thought-provoking. Something for everyone! I have contributed a short story for Teens called A Haunting Tale. It is based on the events surrounding the hanging of Silvester Wilkins, who was only sixteen, in 1833. Here is an extract from the story. "And they do say that this corner of King's Street, what was Irish Lane, is still haunted by the ghost of Silvester Wilkins." "Yeah right," muttered Jack, searching for another track on his i pod. His older sister Zoo, and her friend Effie, had dragged him along on the Ghost Tour, insisting that he had been parked in front of his X box all day and needed some fresh air. "It's pitch black and freezing cold out there!" he'd moaned. "All the better for seeing things," Zoo had replied. Copies of Narrative Threads can be purchased locally at The Book Shop, South St. Bridport, Groves Nursery, and Felicity's Farm Shop at Morecombelake. Alternatively, contact me to reserve a copy for £5.99 plus p&p.
